Updates on Addisen:
For those of you who were aware of all of the drama with Addie's daycare, please feel free to skip down. We had a situation in June at Addie's daycare where about 10-12 kids were left on a playground with a teenage boy who was not an employee of the center. When Corey arrived to pick Addie up there was not an employee present. Her daycare is in the middle of downtown and there is a lot of foot traffic, so we were very upset and quit on the spot. This was pretty tough for us because Addie had been with her daycare provider since she was born. Her daycare provider had decided in January of this year to open a daycare center, and we still really really miss her.
The daycare we changed to expressed some concerns about Addie's behavior after her first week there. She was acting out, not listening, and generally being a terror. Which I wouldn't put past her, but it really didn't sound like her. We worked with her new daycare as much as we could, but they kept pushing for us to get her tested through the school system... what they thought we would find, I don't know.
After about 2 months of them berating us, we finally agreed to have her tested, but only after we had exhausted all the other options (parent teacher conferences, making goals for Addie, and even visiting with her Pediatrican - who told us Addie was just "high maintenance"). Well, about a week before she was scheduled to be tested we got fed up with their negativity and decided to change yet again. Addie finished out her last week, was tested (nothing's wrong with her, and they strongly suggested changing daycares), and moved to the Child Development Center out by where I work. And she's doing GREAT! She's happy again, a little chatterbox, selectively listening again, and she's already 90% potty trained! And this is her first week there!
We had the priviledge this weekend of going to Grand Island to welcome the newest member to the family:
Lauren Olivia was born September 8th at 8:23am, weighing 8 lbs. 12 oz, and was 21 inches! If you remember when Addie was a flower girl at a wedding this summer, Katie was also a flowergirl, and this is Katie's new little sister. Addie and Katie had fun seeing each other again, and had lots of kisses for Lauren :)
And we also found out that my sister, Jennifer, is having...... A BOY!!!! That's right, there are BOYS on the front in our family!!!! Addie has been the only granddaughter for far too long, and my poor dad had 4 girls, so it will be nice to get a little testosterone into the mix! Jen is due January 2011... and other exciting news, Jen has passed her finals, recieved her diploma and passed her test to be a licensed psychologist... and now is known as DOCTOR Jennifer :) We're just a *little* proud of her :) So congrats go out to Dr. and Dr. Jen & Howie!
